Failover is something to take into account, with osx server deployments.

I then deployed a second server, for a DNS secondary zone, and a OpenLDAP fail over.

FILEMAKER SERVER 12 YOSEMITE MAC

When I was happy I set up the new mac Mini server, created a new domain, set up all the services, populated DNS entries, attached the storage, recreated all the users etc etc. Just to make sure that the later version of the server app would be suitable for me and that existing clients would bind etc. I then created put a new server in place (Mac Mini) with 10.9 and deployed all existing services and created a test domain. I would really consider new hardware for yourself as well, regardless of performance your talking about doing a lot of work on a server that is EOL and 5 years old.Īnyway I left the old one running. For me it was a little different as I needed to change the hardware as the 2007 model would not go to 10.9. I came into an environment that was mac only and had an old xserver with 10.6 from 2007. So ya that as well as overhauling the switch rack is going to be my project if anyone has ever done anything similar please give any advice you can (aside from run away which I have the feeling that a lot of people will say for no other reason than I said apple and server in the same post trust me I know) I am playing around with the idea creating a VM of the current server setup then upgrading to mavericks and running the old domain in a VM whilst I build the new domain so I can go around giving the machines (we have like 12 imacs) fresh installs of mavericks and bind them to the new bare metal server install. So far I have taken some steps as far as preparation for this I have built a FreeNAS server that is doing backups automatically of the current server setup as well as basic clean up of the equipment. (we have about 12 Imacs and probably about 7 mac books its not a daunting project)

FILEMAKER SERVER 12 YOSEMITE UPGRADE

and its time to change that I would like to upgrade to mavericks server (only because I think Yosemite is bloated trash) So here I am surrounded by macs (machines that I have recently gotten rid of in my personal life) I am the new IT guy at a organization where we are all macs we have a mid 2010 x serve (really nice condition fully functional with the exception of a dead raid card battery) its got a quad core and 32gb of ram as well as plenty of disk space but its running snow leopard server.
